JOHN E. TIEDT
Practice Areas:

Personal Injury; Truck and Car Accidents; Product Liability; Pharmacy Malpractice; Dietary Supplement Litigation; Consumer Law; Business Transactions and Litigation.

Biography:

John E. Tiedt was born in Anaheim, California on July 29, 1961. He grew up in Placentia, California. He graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1983 and Pepperdine University School of Law in 1987. John immediately went to work for a medical malpractice defense law firm. During his first years of practice, John went back to UCLA to further his education in the medical field. At night, he would study advanced anatomy and physiology, but by day he was engaged in a very busy legal practice.

John was married with three children when he was told that his sister, Joan, suffered from terminal cancer. When his sister passed away, he adopted his sister’s two sons and suddenly, John was a father of five boys. One year after his sister died, John learned that his wife suffered from terminal cancer. John was himself diagnosed with the same cancer three weeks later. John’s wife passed away on November 30, 2002. John was blessed to have successfully beaten cancer and raise five fantastic boys. He is now happily remarried, adding a wonderful stepdaughter to his family.

Despite past adversity, and perhaps because if it, John became even more committed as a consumer advocate. John and his dedicated paralegal, Barb (Michal) Lewis, have been credited with helping to drive dangerous dietary supplements such as ephedra from the market. John moved his practice to Corona as he felt the residents of the Inland Empire needed better and accessible consumer advocates. In response to that perceived need, John and his business partner, Marc, opened their personal injury and employment law practice to serve the residents of the Inland Empire.

John’s recent verdicts and settlements have been praised as consumer victories and he continues to receive referrals directly from law firms around the country. He has also been consulted by notable law firms around the country on complex product liability cases. Mr. Tiedt has also been frequently interviewed and consulted by the media regarding his cases. (E.g. see our video links regarding the Kimkins Diet scam.)

John has served as counsel for the American Cancer Society and several Hollywood post-production facilities. He is a member of Corona Friends Church and sits on its Board of Elders, and is heavily involved in the sporting events of his children.

MARC S. HURD
Practice Areas:

Personal Injury; Truck and Car Accidents; Product Liability; Employment Law; Business Litigation.

Biography:

Marc S. Hurd joined the Law Offices of Tiedt & Hurd in March of 2007, bringing with him over 20 years of litigation experience in the handling of personal injury cases, employment matters, premises and product liability actions, legal malpractice, construction and business litigation matters.

Mr. Hurd attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), where he made the Dean’s List among other scholastic honors, and graduated cum laude in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then graduated from U.C. Hastings College of the Law in June of 1987 and was admitted to practice law in California in December of that year. At Hastings, he was president of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity and an active member of the Associated Students. Mr. Hurd is also admitted to practice before all the United States District courts in California, and is a member of the UCLA and Hastings Alumni Associations, Consumer Attorneys of California , and the Riverside County Bar Association.

A veteran of numerous trials, Mr. Hurd has long been a successful advocate for his clients, and understands that litigation today requires preparation, hard work and a willingness to “go the distance”. Yet, with that experience comes the respect for the judicial system that recognizes that many cases can, and should, be resolved by utilizing alternative means. With that in mind, Mr. Hurd has also resolved hundreds of cases through arbitration, mediation and negotiation of settlements.

Mr. Hurd is married with two children, and is active in Little League Baseball, The YMCA Indian Guides program and local youth soccer.
